Vannes DIN / EN
DIN / EN ball valves have PN-rated EN 1092-1 flanges and EN 558 face-to-face dimensions for plants engineered to European standards. Because EN/DIN-based plant design is common across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, they are the practical choice for one-for-one replacement of existing valves in those plants.

Overview
PN-rated flanges are not compatible with ASME Class flanges, so an ASME valve cannot be installed in an existing DIN line. Ball valves with EN 1092-1 flanges are supplied in PN16, PN25, PN40, PN64 and PN100, with a floating design in small and mid sizes and a trunnion mounted design in large sizes. When comparing Class and PN ratings, compare the allowable pressure at the operating temperature rather than the nominal designation. Pressure tests follow EN 12266-1.

Key features
- One-for-one replacement in existing DIN lines
- Tested to EN 12266-1
- Certificates with EN material numbers
- Stainless steel and low-temperature options
Standards and test pressures
- Design: EN 1983 (steel ball valves), DIN / EN flange dimensions
- Flanges: EN 1092-1 (DIN 2543–2547) PN16, PN25, PN40, PN64 and PN100
- Size range: DN50–DN1000 in trunnion design
- Testing: EN 12266-1 (DIN 3230)
Under EN 12266-1, the hydrostatic shell test is carried out at 1.5 times the valve’s allowable pressure (PS) at 20 °C and the seat test at 1.1 times PS. The values below apply to material groups in which PS equals PN:
| Nominal pressure | Test de coquille | Seat test |
|---|---|---|
| PN 16 | 2.4 MPa (24 bar) | 1.76 MPa (17.6 bar) |
| PN 25 | 3.75 MPa (37.5 bar) | 2.75 MPa (27.5 bar) |
| PN 40 | 6.0 MPa (60 bar) | 4.4 MPa (44 bar) |
| PN 64 | 9.6 MPa (96 bar) | 7.04 MPa (70.4 bar) |
Documentation and testing
On industrial projects the documentation package matters as much as the valve. We confirm the certificate and test scope for every line item at quotation stage:
- EN 10204 3.1 material certificates for pressure-retaining and wetted parts, traceable by heat number
- EN 10204 3.2 with third-party inspection, on request
- Pressure test reports to API 598 or EN 12266-1: shell, seat and, where specified, gas tests
- Fire-test certificates (API 607 / ISO 10497) for fire-safe type-tested designs
- PMI reports for alloy and stainless materials
- Dimensional, visual and coating inspection records
- PED 2014/68/EU CE declaration for equipment within its scope
- NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliance statement for sour (H₂S) service

Foire aux questions
What is the difference between a DIN ball valve and an ASME ball valve?
The main difference is flange and face-to-face dimensions: DIN/EN valves have PN-rated EN 1092-1 flanges and EN 558 lengths, while ASME valves have Class-rated ASME B16.5 flanges and ASME B16.10 lengths. They cannot be directly interchanged.
What pressure is a PN40 ball valve rated for?
PN40 means an allowable pressure of 40 bar at about 20 °C (68 °F) for the reference material. The allowable pressure falls as temperature rises and depends on the material, so selection should be based on the value at the operating temperature.
