Industrial Strainers
Basket strainers hold much more dirt than Y strainers thanks to a large removable basket, and operate with a lower pressure drop. They are used on large-diameter lines with heavy dirt loads, and in duplex versions where uninterrupted operation is required.
Overview
With a simplex basket strainer, the line is shut down or bypassed for cleaning. In the duplex type, two basket housings are connected by a changeover valve; one is cleaned while the other stays in service. Documentation and testing
On industrial projects the documentation package matters as much as the valve. We confirm the certificate and test scope for every line item at quotation stage:
- EN 10204 3.1 material certificates for pressure-retaining and wetted parts, traceable by heat number
- EN 10204 3.2 with third-party inspection, on request
- Pressure test reports to API 598 or EN 12266-1: shell, seat and, where specified, gas tests

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a duplex basket strainer needed?
Where the line cannot be stopped for cleaning and the dirt load is continuous, such as cooling water, process water and fuel lines. The changeover valve diverts flow to the clean basket, and the other basket is cleaned while operation continues.
