Cast Steel Gate & Globe Valves
In an angle globe valve the inlet and outlet are at 90° to each other. The valve acts as an elbow and, because the flow changes direction only once, gives a lower pressure drop than a straight-pattern globe valve.
Overview
Where the piping route changes direction, it saves one elbow and one weld joint. On high differential pressure relief, blowdown and drain lines, flow leaving the seat is directed straight to the outlet, which reduces erosion.

When is an angle globe valve preferred?
When isolation or regulation is needed at the same point where the line changes direction, and on high differential pressure relief lines. It saves an elbow and reduces pressure drop.
